Libyan Foreign Minister Abdel Rahman Shalgham is to make a historic visit to Moscow between July 30th and August 2nd, ITAR-TASS news agency reported on Friday, citing diplomatic sources.
During his stay in the Russian capital -- the first by a Libyan foreign minister -- Rahman will hold talks with Russian counterpart Igor Ivanov, the agency added.
Russia in May last year resumed economic and diplomatic ties with its long-standing North African ally after the UN Security Council lifted seven-year-old international sanctions against Libya.
Libya unlocked the sanctions problem by handing over two suspects to face trial for the December 1988 bombing of a Pan Am Boeing 747 over Lockerbie, Scotland, which killed 270 people – MOSCOW (AFP)
