Fighters loyal to Libya's Tripoli-based government clashed with Daesh near the town of Nofaliya, reports Associated Press.
Ten troops were killed and four injured in the battle, which took place near the country's main oil terminal.
Daesh has repeatedly attacked Libya's many oil fields.
On March 8th, eight people were killed when Daesh stormed Libya's al-Ghani oil field located near the town of Zalla, 470 miles southeast of Tripoli.
Libya has been in a state of turmoil since Muammar Gaddafi fell from power in 2011 during a bloody uprising.
