Dubai is the first Middle Eastern city in history to be chosen to participate in the ‘Live Centre’ sessions’ during the annual EuroPCR Congress – the leading global cardiovascular course. This year, Dr. Talib K. Majwal, Director of Interventional Cardiology, Dubai Heart Center, Dubai Hospital will perform two of the most critical cardiac procedures live through web-cast to the congress in Paris on the 26th of May, at 1:30 pm.
Every year, only 15 top institutions and doctors from around the world are hand picked by the congress’s board of directors to participate and showcase their educational and surgical talents through live case sessions. Approximately 15,000 cardiologists from across the globe attend the EuroPCR Congress every year.
“Today is truly a day in history; the Dubai Health Authority is extremely proud to announce that one of its oldest institutions, Dubai Hospital, has been chosen to be part of the EuroPCR live case sessions. This puts Dubai, the UAE, and Dubai Heart Center on the global map of healthcare excellence. Our vision to provide exceptional quality healthcare to our community has been overachieved.” commented Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director General, Dubai Health Authority.
Dr. Majwal will be performing two procedures on Wednesday 26th, May. The first and most critical procedure is labelled the ‘Unprotected Left Main’ and second is entitled the ‘Complex Patient’; generally both extremely difficult procedures, the technique we use is straightforward, swift and safe.
“I’m very happy to be part of such a global and historical initiative. EuroPCR is truly the most anticipated event in the field of cardiology every year,” said Dr. Majwal. “The procedures that I will be performing are very complex and critical procedures, but the truth of the matter is, that these procedures are not rare at our center; they are being executed on a weekly if not a daily basis sometimes.”
“We have a very high and consistent success rate, and now, we are the only center outside Europe that has been selected to be part of the live case sessions during Euro PCR. The majority of our cases are urgent and usually need immediate open heart surgery, but our center offers angioplasty, a much less invasive procedure – with the patient going back to normal life within two to three days of the procedure only. Doctors at Dubai Heart Center are specialized, well-practised, safe, and accurate with these new techniques; patients from across the region visit to our Center because of this fact. We are proud to demonstrate to the world where Dubai stands in field of interventional cardiology,” he added.
The live transmission of the first procedure will begin at exactly 1:30 pm from Room One at Dubai Hospital and aired live to the Main arena of the EuroPCR live center. The next will begin at 7:00 pm and will be aired at the plenary room during the Learning and Techniques Session on Bifurcation.
A technical team will arrive in Dubai shortly to set up the live transmission feed from the Dubai Heart Center.
