ALBAWABA - Hamas, a Palestinian armed group, launched on Saturday a large-scale operation, called “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood” against Israel, its biggest such offensive in decades.

53 Israelis captured by Palestinian fighters

Israeli media reported citing Palestinian sources that at least 53 Israelis were captured by Palestinian fighters since the start of the “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood” against Israel.

Saudi Arabia calls to de-escalate tension

Saudi Arabia's foreign ministry released a statement confirming that it is "closely monitoring" developments between Hamas and Israel.

In a statement, it said: "Saudi Arabia calls for an immediate halt to the escalation between Israel and the Palestinian factions."


Israeli military radio said that Palestinian fighters have “infiltrated” Israel from Gaza and seized military bases as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into Israeli territory." />

Jerusalem Post reported Saturday that the head of the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council, Ofir Liebstein, was killed in an exchange of fire with Palestinian fighters.

Four killed in Israeli town

Israeli media reported citing the mayor of Kuseife, Abd al-Aziz Nassara, that four at least were killed and several more wounded after the attacks by Hamas fighters on the town.
