Several international airlines halt flights to Beirut

ALBAWABA - Amid the rising tension in Lebanon, German flag carrier Lufthansa and Swiss International Airlines announced halting all flights to Beirut-Rafic Al Hariri International Airport in Beirut until August 5th.

UPDATE

The Amman-based airline, Royal Jordanian also announced canceling Monday and Tuesday flights to Beirut amid the recommendation of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission.

Air France and low-cost airline Transavia France have delayed flights between Paris and Beirut due to the "security situation" in Lebanon, according to a company representative on Monday.

Additionally, Lebanon's national airline, Middle East Airlines (MEA), also announced postponing some of the returning flights to Beirut citing insurance risks. 

German broadcaster DW reported that flight tracking website Flightradar24 data showed Turkey's SunExpress and Turkish Airlines and its subsidiary Ajet canceled flights scheduled to land in Beirut on Monday.

Other flight services, such as Greek carrier Aegean Airlines and Ethiopian Air, also followed suit.
