Lebanese songstress Majida El Roumi has declared that she has just finalized a new song in collaboration with Iraqi mega-star Kathem El Saher.

The song’s lyrics were written by the late famous love-poet Nizar Qabani said Roumi.

According to ‘Al Khaleej’ newspaper, speaking at a press conference in Egypt, the songstress also commented on her newest controversial song Sayidi El Ra’ees (Mr. President).

The music video for the song was banned from all Arab countries on the basis that it negatively touches upon the Arab leaders in the world.

“I love this song,” said Roumi, adding that “I feel like it didn’t really get the attention in deserves. I do not know why this song generated the amount of fear it did.”

The singer also stated her opinion on a star’s work in the advertising field.

“I am not against working in ads; especially if it is in a responsible manner. For example, if I was asked to work with UNICEF, I would, without hesitation. If I was asked to work for the children of Iraq, again I would. To summarize, I would work for any humanitarian cause.”

Meanwhile, Roumi spoke about her most recent projects saying that “there are new collaboration projects with various Arab female poets.

However, the songstress emphasized that “the fact that all the poets are woman was not a deliberate move on my part. It was a coincidence. However, the move gave the album a whole new flavor, since the aura of a woman differs from that of a man.”

Meanwhile, although Roumi had once sworn off acting, it is possible that she would appear once again on the Silver Screen.

“My work with the great director Youssef Chahine was a special asset to my artistic trip; especially since I did not start the climb from the bottom. I was fortunate enough to start from the top and stay there, with the help of God,” she said.

Added Roumi, “I am ready to act in any movie, which is similar to Awdat Al Ibn Al Dal (The Return of the Spiteful Son). Other than that, I would prefer to sit at home and watch a movie or listen to a song I like. I am not the type of artist who likes appearing just for appearing sake. If I do not find the right vent, I would rather stay at home,” added Roumi, maintaining the dignity she has been respected for throughout her long and prosperous career – Albawaba.com.
