A total of 63 people have died on Malaysia's roads in the first six days of an annual safety campaign, police said Sunday.
Traffic chief Ahmad Bahrin Idrus, quoted by Bernama news agency, said 11 people were killed in nine accidents on Saturday, the sixth day of the "Ops Statik V" campaign.
A total of 920 road crashes were recorded Saturday across the country and 7,325 summonses were issued for various traffic offences.
Tens of thousands of people are heading for their home towns over Christmas and the Muslim Hari Raya two-day holiday, which this year falls in the same week as the Christian festival -- KUALA LUMPUR (AFP)
