Malaysian Prime Minister Mahateer Mohammed has stressed his country’s interest in enhancing bilateral relations of cooperation and direct contacts with Syria in order to lay the foundation of a good relationship between the two countries.
In a statement published on Tuesday by al-Baath daily, cited by SANA, Premier Mohammed indicated that what is known about Syria through international media channels is not enough, and that direct contact is the best way to get acquainted with each other.
He added that for that purpose he had earlier sent his Minister of Information to promote forms of bilateral cooperation.
With regards to the situation in the Middle East region, he emphasized that the real problem lies in the Israeli occupation and expulsion of the Palestinians.
On the issue of Iraq, he stressed his country’s objection to any attempt to launch an attack against that country. (Albawaba.com)
