One Jordanian man was killed and another badly injured on Friday night, when fireworks exploded during festivities to celebrate the country’s 55th independence day at Al Hussein Sports City in Amman, an official source said.
The source told the Jordan Times newspaper that the fireworks, which he said were ignited by trained assigned personnel, was fired by mistake in the direction of the audience “instead of being fired in the air.”
The rocket killed a 25-year-old youth and injured another 53-year-old man who is currently hospitalized in a military hospital and “is in very critical condition.”
According to a forensics official, who on Saturday morning examined the body of the deceased, Ali Mohammad Kharabsheh suffered fatal wounds to the body, and his face was seriously burned, said the paper.
Kharabsheh was employed by the Greater Amman Municipality's public relations department and had recently gotten married, the paper said – Albawaba.com
