MAPEI, a leading global manufacturer of adhesives, sealants and chemical products for buildings, has announced that it is sponsoring racer Jason Burnside of Team 77 at this year's UAE National Motorcycle Championship in Dubai, following a similar sponsorship agreement with Burnside in 2009-2010 session where he finished third in the 600cc class and 5th overall.
Meanwhile, MAPEI also revealed that it was the major partner of the UCI Road Cycling World Championships 2010 held recently in Melbourne and Geelong (Victoria, Australia). The event, which took place for the sixth time outside Europe, included six races – 3 timetrial and 3 road for Men's Under 23, Women's Elite and Men's Elite.
Aside from supporting top-level sporting competitions, MAPEI has been a prominent figure in sports through its products and technologies used for outdoor and indoor sport facilities around the world such as swimming pools, athletic tracks and buildings involved in the Olympic Games and other world sporting events. MAPEI's association with international sporting events dates back to the Munich Olympics of 1972 when the company provided construction-related materials. MAPEI has since provided such materials for every edition of the Games.
"MAPEI's participation in sporting competitions is in line with the company's commitment to be a socially responsible business organisation. In addition, we are also very active in the sporting world through a special range of products that we have developed for sporting facilities. Our involvement in sports has also delivered significant strategic benefits to us as it has contributed in boosting brand awareness through our partnership with various global sporting events such as the UCI Road Cycling World Championships and also our association with motorsports through our sponsorship of Jason Burnside. Our sponsorship of Jason "Team 77" underlines two of Mapei's key attributes for installers and contractors, namely speed and performance referring to our reputation as a supplier of problem solving solutions particularly for fast-track projects and high end and sensitive finishes installation" said Laith Haboubi, Business Development Director, IBS-MAPEI
MAPEI is well known for its range of adhesives and sealants used to install ceramic, natural stone and other finishes such as wooden, PVC and sports flooring. The company has been involved in some of the most challenging construction projects, including the Armani hotel in Burj Khalifa, Qasr El Sarab resort, Atlantis Hotel on Palm Jumeirah, the Emirates Palace Hotel, Burj Al Arab, and Dubai International Airport's Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
