Mark Houghton-Berry Joins Saffar Holdings’ Board of Directors

Dubai, UAE- April 28, 2010– Saffar, a regional financial services firm, today announced that Mark Houghton-Berry, the former CEO of Tudor Capital UK, has joined the Company’s Board of Directors. 

“Mark brings an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience to Saffar, having run the UK arm of one of the world’s largest Hedge Funds.  As CEO, a Board Director, and Portfolio Manager of Tudor Capital UK’s multi-billion dollar asset management business, Mark reached a high level of achievement in this area. Saffar will benefit from Mark’s insights and is extremely pleased to welcome him to the Board,” said Yousef Al-Quraishi, Chairman of Saffar Holding.

Mr. Houghton-Berry most recently served from 2007-2009 as the Chief Executive Officer of Tudor Capital UK LP, the largest entity by assets within the Tudor Group.  As CEO, he served as one of three Global Trading Managers for the Tudor Group as a whole and was Chairman of the London Management Committee.  Mark sat on the Tudor Group’s Management Committee for ten years, during which time assets under management grew from $1 billion to $20 billion.

Prior to joining Tudor in 1995, Mark led a pioneering career at Goldman Sachs International where he was a founding member, and later Head, of Proprietary Trading.  As Head of Fixed Income, he helped establish the Goldman Sachs Frankfurt Office and recruited and managed the team of fixed income traders and salespeople.

Mr. Houghton-Berry started his career at Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation which included postings in the Middle East.  He holds an MBA from Stanford University and an MA from Exeter College, Oxford.
