Mashreq, one of the UAE’s leading financial institutions, announced the expansion of its unique debt counselling service ‘Mashreq Assist’, to Abu Dhabi. The move comes from the bank’s commitment to be more accessible and offer convenient banking solutions to all its customers throughout the UAE. The service, a first of its kind service in the UAE, offers tailor-made financial solutions to help Mashreq customers ease financial stress and anxieties.

The facility, located within the Al Mushrif branch on Shk Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum St., will provide individuals, SME’s and businesses within the emirate, a friendly, safe and secure location through which they can obtain specialist debt counselling advice regarding their outstanding borrowings and offering restructuring solutions.

“The expansion of Mashreq Assist to Abu Dhabi comes from our vision to be more accessible and convenient for all our customers. The overwhelming response received from the initial launch of the service in Dubai has encouraged us to take it further and to reach out to the Capital.  Through the expansion of ‘Mashreq Assist’ we are inviting individuals and businesses that are facing difficulties to come to us and discuss their problems in an open and transparent manner.,” stated Douglas Beckett, Head of Retail Banking, Mashreq said.

“As a National bank, we understand the importance of the Abu Dhabi market, and we are keen to support the rapid growth of the emirate by supporting our customers as fully as possible, continued Beckett.”

Over the course of the last twelve months, Mashreq has opened 4 branches in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, bringing the total number of branches in these emirates to 16.

To-date the Dubai branch of ‘Mashreq Assist’ launched in September 2009, has offered assistance to over 5000 individuals, and SME’s. Customers approaching ‘Mashreq Assist’ will be able to liaise directly, and confidentially, with a counselor to discuss any financial troubles. Each issue will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

Niranjan Mendonca, Head of Retail Assets, Mashreq said: “Based on customer interaction and feedback we found it necessary to offer easy access to ‘Mashreq Assist’ services for our customers in Abu Dhabi. We sincerely hope that residents of Abu Dhabi will take full advantage of our debt counseling service, should it be required. Alerting us early to any concern will allow us to address any issue(s) as quickly and effectively as possible.”

The expansion of ‘Mashreq Assist’ supports Mashreq’s strategic vision to increase its presence in the capital during 2010.
