ALBAWABA- Massive explosions were heard across several Lebanese regions, including the southern suburb of Beirut, just 24 hours after Israel's largest-ever cyber attack on Lebanon’s wireless communication system.
The reported explosions involve wireless communication devices in several regions of Lebanon.
According to AFP, citing a security source, several wireless communication devices exploded in Beirut’s southern suburb.
Reuters also reported, based on a security source, that the devices that detonated across Lebanon today were handheld wireless communication devices, different from the pagers that exploded yesterday.
The source further revealed that Hezbollah had purchased these handheld communication devices five months ago, around the same time they acquired the pagers.
The attack, which targeted Hezbollah’s pager network, left thousands injured and dozens dead, most of whom were pro-Hezbollah members.
The unexpected nature of the Israeli operation has raised numerous questions about how Israeli forces successfully hacked Hezbollah’s communication devices.
In response, Hezbollah has vowed an unexpected retaliation. This escalation comes as Israeli forces prepare for a full-scale assault on Lebanon, viewing Hezbollah and Iran as existential threats on the northern front, while shifting military resources from Gaza to the northern border.
