Mauritania: Three wounded in French Embassy attack

A suicide bomber blew himself up outside the French Embassy in Mauritania on Saturday night, wounding two embassy guards and a woman in the street, police and witnesses said. According to the AP, the bomber blew himself up around 7 p.m. (1900 GMT), a policeman at the scene conveyed.

 

According to witnesses, the bomber's body was scattered in pieces on the street.

 

In France, the Foreign Ministry said it was informed of two people lightly wounded in the attack, a ministry official said. There was no damage to the embassy.

 

Earlier this month, a judge charged three men with murder in the killing of an American teacher in Mauritania, and also charged them with aiding al-Qaeda.
