Mayor of Amman comments

Mayor of Amman, Eng. Omar Maani declared that the supervisory units of GAM, in collaboration with Audit Bureau, revealed clues of embezzlement by an accountant in the central market worth of 74.000 JD.

Eng. Maani clarified that the investigation committee ended up its work in this case, and gave a report to transfer the whole issue to the Attorney General.

The investigations unveiled that the process has been individually, committed by one of the Central Market fugitive accountants who is currently at large outside the country.

Mayor of Amman affirmed that he would not be tolerated with any employee or unit for GAM who betrays the responsibility he or she is charged with, or be tempted to tamper with the public money.

He explained also that disclosing such corruption cases is part of GAM systematic efforts years ago, and continuing administrative and financial reform in coordination with the Audit Bureau and Anti Corruption Commission, in addition to relevant security agencies to uncover any abuse by any employee, or failure of the same nature in any of GAM departments.

Eng. Maani declared earlier that GAM is about to finalize a code of honor and conduct system to translate the visions and directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, and to be in line with the government approach.

He pointed out to the code of honor and conduct system will be submitted to the City Council for approval and ratification in the next meeting and will enter into effect to include all functional levels in GAM.
