Mayor of Amman Meets the Children Participating in the Camp “With Jordan, We Grow Up”

Mayor of Amman, Omar Maani, met at the City Hall the children participating in the 7th Camp of Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) "With Jordan, We Grow Up".

Maani listened to the participants from Jordan, Palestine, Syria, and Emirates, talking about their experiences and opinions regarding the Camp, Amman City, the regions and the places they visited in Jordan.

Maani exchanged presents and memorial plaques with the heads of the Arab delegations participating from the municipalities of Beit Leed, Bal'aa, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem from Palestine, the Municipality of Dubai from Emirates, and Municipality of Damascus from Syria. He expressed GAM's interest in the Arab brothers' participation in the Camp activities which open the way for them to know the City identity and Jordan's culture.

Many children expressed their gratitude to the Mayor for receiving them and for giving them the chance to participate in the Camp.

The meeting was attended by City Deputy Manager for Cultural, Social, and Sports Affairs, Eng. Haitham Jweinat, Director of Social Centers Department, Ayman Khleifat, and the Camp Coordinator, Maher Al Tel, in addition to the supervisors of the Camp.

The second week's activities of the Camp have been launched with the participation of Jordanian and Arab children, and inaugurated by City Deputy Manager for Cultural, Social, and Sports Affairs, Eng. Haitham Jweinat.

Head of the Emiratis delegation, Mohammed Al Naqabi, expressed his pleasure with their participation in the Camp, and said: "We participated in this Camp with a delegation of three children, and it is the first for Emirates, which represents to us an opportunity to gain knowledge about Amman, the Jordanians, and the archeological and touristic locations, such as Dead Sea, Rum, and the children's museums".

Head of the Syrian delegation commended the success of the Camp "With Jordan We Grow", pointing out that "the success of any project leads to sustainability and continuity, and this is the case with this Camp in which Syria participates for the 4th time, with a delegation of 6 children from Damascus City".

She said: "This Camp is a good chance to observe Amman city, and Jordan in general in one week, through the program of the Camp, which reflects the high standard of the Camp".

The directorate of Social Services at GAM organizes the Camp "With Jordan We Grow" annually, targets children from the ages 9 – 13 years; its activities last for 3 weeks (one camp each week), with 100 children participating in each camp.
