Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development (MBRCLD), an innovative leadership foundation designed to develop future national leaders capable of promoting the sustainable development of Dubai, has recently hosted a meeting between H.E. Reem Al Hashemi, UAE Minister of State, and Dr. Astrid S. Tuminez, Assistant Dean of Executive Education and Research Director of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP) in Singapore's National University.
Also present during the high-profile meeting was Adel Al Shared, Executive Chairman of MBRCLD, who briefed Dr. Tuminez on MBRPLD’s objectives, strategies and activities. Dr. Tuminez has been invited by MBRCLD to serve as keynote speaker for new sessions of the Center activities.
Commenting on the high-level meeting, Adel Al Shared said, “The meeting with Dr. Tuminez featured in-depth discussions about Dubai’s strategies and the sustainable development plans of the emirate. Such meetings provide an opportunity to share experiences and ideas with renowned global leaders, in addition to enabling us to present the various initiatives being undertaken in line with Dubai’s vision and the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015.”
Dr. Tuminez, who has around two decades experience in the fields of public policy analysis, philanthropy, research and project management, and private equity, holds a BA in Russian Language and Literature and International Relations from Brigham Young University, a master's degree in Soviet Studies from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to joining LKYSPP, Dr. Tuminez was Senior Research Associate of the Philippine Facilitation Project of the United States Institute of Peace and was a Senior Fellow of the Southeast Asian Research Centre of the City University of Hong Kong. Dr. Tuminez has also been a Senior Advisor, Strategy and Programs, for the Salzburg Global Seminar, a US educational institution based in Salzburg, Austria.
MBRCLD has been established in line with the vision and directions of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; the initiator of the MBRCLD initiative who has underscored the critical importance of a highly competent national professional workforce to ensure the country's global sustainability.
