McAfee, Inc, today announced its participation in the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) 2009 taking place from 18th to 22nd October in Dubai. At the event, the region’s largest ICT exhibition, McAfee will be helping organisations get the most out of their security investments and deal with the challenges around protecting their data, systems and networks from security threats.
Information has become the lifeblood of today’s businesses but can easily be lost or compromised through employee error or by being the target of cybercriminals’ activity. At the same time, networks and systems are increasingly under attack, with new threats appearing at an alarming rate - McAfee Labs data shows that attacks on digital information increased 500 percent over the previous year. During the five day event, McAfee will be discussing the need for organisations to adopt a strategy to protect what is most valuable to them. Forward-thinking organisations are increasingly turning to integrated offerings to achieve an improved security posture, while at the same time, have the need to be cost efficient.
Hamed Diab, regional director, McAfee Middle East said: “GITEX is an important event for McAfee this year – the event is an excellent platform for McAfee to meet with organisations and partners and to demonstrate its security leadership, with some of its most significant security technologies on display. The security threat landscape has evolved considerably in recent years, with cybercriminals’ motivation moving from fortune to fame and the number of threats growing exponentially – businesses today need a proactive approach to security in order to stay ahead of the game.”
“McAfee offers a wide range of security solutions that help in tackling many businesses security challenges including data protection, threat protection to name but a few. McAfee is committed to helping organisations to optimise their security architectures in order to achieve an improved security posture while at the same time lowering costs. McAfee’s presence in the Middle East has evolved considerably since last year’s GITEX - our team here has more than quadrupled, and a number of acquisitions have really enhanced our security portfolio, so these are exciting times.” Diab continued.
On the stand Z-S27 located in Zabeel Hall, McAfee will be displaying its latest networking security technologies. Also at the stand will be Greg Day, McAfee’s principal EMEA security analyst, ready to talk to businesses about the latest security and technology trends in the market such as threat evolution and the threats to adapt and security due to the growth of social media platforms.
Recently McAfee was placed by Gartner, the leading research form, in the leaders quadrant in its “Magic Quadrant for Mobile Data Protection” published September 1, 2009.
