A little piece of the Mediterranean took root in Dubai yesterday (Wednesday) when Al Barari, the only family owned and operated property development in Dubai, celebrated the opening of the first botanical garden in the heart of its flagship, multi-billion dirham residential project.

More than 650 guests and residents of Al Barari enjoyed a spectacular evening of celebration and entertainment in the 20,000m² Mediterranean Garden, the first of six botanical gardens in the exclusive residential development that has become one the most coveted addresses in Dubai.

Capturing the summery warmth, simplicity and rural-rugged nature of the Mediterranean coastline, the spacious garden integrates effortlessly with the lush gardens already being established around the 275 homes at Al Barari.  One of the lowest density developments in the region,  more than 80 percent of Al Barari features open spaces, botanical gardens, lakes and waterways, walking/jogging tracks, dedicated outdoor yoga areas, and recreational and community facilities.

The MediterraneanGarden is planted with more than 10,000 plants, shrubs and groundcovers and over 250 palms and trees, including a number of majestic century-old olive trees.  The use of stone and gravel within the greenery and waterways, together with the simple architectural statements punctuating the open spaces, and the blue and turquoise hues of the children’s play area, create the timeless environment of a Mediterranean paradise.

Mohammed bin Zaal, CEO of Al Barari said: “We are delighted to be celebrating another milestone, and one that epitomizes the very essence of what Al Barari is – a haven from the hectic pace of modern life.  The gardens that form such an integral part of our development encourage outdoor living and enable Al Barari residents to enjoy unique landscapes within their own residential environment.”

Handover of homes within the development, which is situated within the royal enclave of Nad Al Sheba, is now well underway, with more than 26 families already resident at Al Barari and a further 83 villas ready for handover.  The project remains on track, with all 275 villas, retail and community amenities in the first phase scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
