The Melbourne Cup Carnival concluded on Saturday with Emirates Stakes Day, featuring the Group 1 Emirates Stakes won by Wall Street.
Barry Brown, Emirates' Vice President Australasia presented winning jockey Hugh Bowman; owners GG Syndicate Ltd, GKV Holdings Ltd & M A Head; and trainer Jeff Lynds with the 2010 Emirates Stakes winner's trophy.
With over 77,000 racing fans enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of Emirates Stakes Day, warmly regarded as 'Family Day,' it was also the younger racegoers who joined in the celebrations thanks to Emirates Stakes Day Fashions on the Field.
Lucky participants Brooke Walter and Dylan Dunn were crowned Miss and Master Emirates Stakes and have won a trip for two to Dubai flying Business Class with Emirates Airline.
"Here we are on the final day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival where we have celebrated a milestone in racing - the 150th anniversary for the Emirates Melbourne Cup. Today on what is fondly referred to as 'Family Day' we pass on a legacy to the future generations of racing who are also here to share in the excitement," said Brown.
The family fun also continued in the Spanish inspired Emirates marquee, bringing the Birdcage to life as it celebrated the 150th anniversary of the Melbourne Cup in a unique extravaganza of racing and style.
Guests included Jessica Watson, who in May 2010 became the youngest person to sail non-stop and unassisted around the world, Nick Bracks, Kimberley Davies, Tottie Goldsmith, Luke Ball (Collingwood FC), Rhiannon Fish (Home & Away), David Jones-Roberts (Home & Away) Ryan Maloney (Neighbours), England rugby star Danny Cipriani and former AFL player Paul Licuria.
