Memorandum of Understanding between GAM and the Supreme Committee for Military Training and National Education

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed at the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM )head quarters for the participation in and the support of services rendered to the children, youth, and the local community in regards to the sports, recreational , and health aspects , in addition to the national education and the military culture.

The MOU was signed by the Mayor of GAM, Omar Maani, and the Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Military Training and National Education in Schools, Shareefah Surrah Bint Ghazi, and the Committee member, the Chairman of the Human Resources Commission, General Ath'ar Al Shanableh, and Mrs. Dawn Green Sides from the International Relief and Development Organization (IRD).

Engineer Maani said that GAM seeks to enhance its role in the sportive and recreational scopes, and the sectors related to childhood and youth, drawing the attention to the importance of the MOU which covers the national education and the military culture.

In accordance with the MOU , the signature of which was attended by Engineer 'Ammar Gharaybeh and a number of senior GAM officials, the Municipality shall allow the utilization of its international camp located in Amman National Park on the Airport Road and all its facilities by the school students enrolled in the training program of military culture in the government schools following the project of activating the role of the local community in the partnership with schools supervised by the Supreme Committee for Military Training and National Education in Schools.

Groups of school students shall be deployed for the purpose of holding a number of activities and events, the year over, including training, recreation, and education through providing trainers responsible for preparing and executing training programs within a national project aiming at developing the capabilities and skills of students, in addition to unleashing their energies in sports activities and military and national culture.

The training program is to focus on providing the participants with mental, movements, and leadership skills that should enhance in them the importance of the constitution, the respect of rules and regulations, and embracing the Jordanian values, morals and literature. Such programs should also enhance self confidence, real and genuine participation, and volunteering in all honesty and loyalty.

It is worth mentioning that the International Relief and Development Organization aims at developing local communities, with plans to developing and providing the necessary financing to the schools and students activities, in addition to many partnership programs in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.
