"80 per cent of women who develop breast cancer in the Middle East are found to be at an advanced stage where treatment is much more difficult and the chance of cure is very low," says Dr Nagi F. Khouri, MD, Associate Professor of Radiology and Oncology.
These shocking facts make it absolutely imperative that large-scale initiatives be taken to spread awareness about this disease especially in regions like the Middle East, where talking openly about breast cancer is still rare and cultural taboo keeps many women from seeking life-saving treatment.
