Hollywood tough guy Sylvester Stallone was terrified on the set of his new film because Michael Caine made him nervous.
The Rocky star, who has just finished re-making Caine's classic 1971 film Get Carter, arranged for the British original to make a cameo appearance. But having Caine on set was a nerve-wracking experience for the heavyweight.
Speaking at the World Premiere in Los Angeles last night, October 4th, he explains, "oh yeah, completely nervous, but we did do
a film together 20 years earlier so I had a little bit of a rapport
with him. In the end he was just fantastic, he's a great friend."
And he admits Caine was eager to give him advice on how to play
the role of Jack Carter, saying, "yeah, he said, stay out of his
light.
"No, he just said he liked the fact the new movie was going in
a different direction and it wasn't trying to be imitative, because
what he did was just great and that remains very much intact.
"There's very little resemblance, all the action changes with the
new film” – Melanie Bromley (Wenn, Los Angeles).
