Middle East Creating World-class Brands Says Tejari CEO

Omar Hijazi, CEO of Tejari, this week presented a keynote speech to the Arab Brands Forum on how Tejari has created a premier online brand during the last six years. The presentation, titled ‘Building Online Brands in the Middle East: Recipe for Success’, discussed how Tejari evolved from a start-up brand in 2000 to a comprehensive marketplace, to a full eCommerce provider and platform that has more than 70,000 member companies and a total trading volume of more than $3 billion. Abdulla Salman, Marketing Director of Tejari, also participated in the conference.

“Tejari’s development as a brand has included a core commitment to education about the value of online business practices, which also required a level of trust-building with regional organizations,” said Hijazi. “Today our brand is one of the leading online brands across the wider Middle East region, and is also growing in recognition in global markets. Tejari is proof that with the right marketing strategy and business model, organizations in the Middle East can create a world-class online brand.”

Hijazi’s presentation focused on how Tejari had gone about creating awareness and confidence in its services, and developed gradually in different vertical sectors and geographical markets. The presentation also covered the various strategies that Tejari had used, including creating a strong leadership team that was accessible to media, involving customers as brand champions, and the importance of technology to online organizations.

Tejari continues to develop its brand into new sectors, and to build awareness on a worldwide stage through an ongoing program of participation in global events. In the second half of this year, Tejari has been represented at major technology and media events in China, Monaco, Turkey and the US, and has also launched its services in the Pakistan market.
