"Our brave defense forces have continued repulsing the aggressive attacks launched by the US and British warplanes which target civil areas and installations", the official Iraq News Agency reported on Monday.
In a statement to the news agency, a military spokesman for the Iraqi Air Defense Command said that the "enemies" on Sunday carried out an amount of 36-armed sorties coming from their bases in Kuwait, backed by AWACS inside Saudi airspace.
The spokesman added that the "hostile warplanes" had flown over areas in Ishbisha, Al-bessiya, Al- Juleba, Al- lassaf, As-salman, Al- Qurna, Al-Riffa'I, Kala't Saleh, Al-samawa ,Artawi, Al-Rumetha, Affak, Al-Dewaniya , Al-najaf, and Al- Imara, INA said.
"The brave Iraqi Anti-Aircraft Defenses intercepted the enemies and forced them to retreat to their nests of evil", the spokesman continued, according to the news agency. (Albawaba.com)
