Millions of children and young people are trafficked every year. The majority are affected by sexual exploitation and abuse. Because we believe not enough is done to solve this problem, The Body Shop is launching this global campaign to take action against sex trafficking and seek positive change to help those affected and those at risk.
The aim of the campaign and the campaign message is to stop the sex trafficking of children and young people.
The campaign presents the most widespread and far-reaching opportunity to highlight the issue, and make a difference to a generation of children and young people. The campaign is planned to last for 3 years. In 2009 our aim is to raise awareness of the issue and engage customers and media on this subject. The most important thing is in this campaign to seek permanent change by working with decision makers around the world who have the power to give children greater protection.
To deliver the campaign effectively The Body Shop has created a global partnership with ECPAT International. ECPAT stands for End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and the Trafficking of Children. ECPAT is a network of organizations and individuals working together to eliminate the commercial sexual exploitation of children. It seeks to encourage the world community to ensure that children everywhere enjoy their fundamental rights, free from all forms of commercial sexual exploitation.
