MINI Clubman Wins ‘Small Car of the Year’ AWARD

Top automotive title honours small on size, big on style model

The MINI Clubman has scooped the coveted ‘Small Car of the Year’ title at the recently held Car Middle East awards. Described as “an automotive Jack Russell – both cute and tough”, the MINI beat off stiff competition from 11 other entries.

With its unique design features and performance attributes, the MINI Clubman clearly stands out from its peers and conventional automotive norms. These include the MINI Clubman’s innovative door concepts - a passenger rear-hinged door on the right-hand side of the car and the rear door sporting split-door wings. This two-piece rear door offers a highly modern interpretation of classic MINI detailing.

According to judges, the MINI Clubman’s longer wheelbase makes the car feel even more planted to the road and gives the chassis extra maneuverability compared to its sister model, the MINI Cooper. The MINI Cooper S Clubman tested by judges has a  1.6-litre, four-cylinder engine producing 128 kW/175 hp at 5,500 rpm, offering superior driving pleasure and convincing fuel economy at all times.

Phil Horton, Managing Director of BMW Group Middle East said: “We have claimed the ‘Small Car of the Year’ award for a second consecutive year and this is testament to the exceptional design and performance of the MINI brand. The MINI Clubman is a car that is small in exterior design but big in style, attitude and on-road presence.“

The new MINI Clubman offers unique design and unmatched driving agility in a small premium car, combined with quality and safety of the highest standard in addition to a wide range of customisation options.

Catering to a wider and more diverse range of drivers, the MINI Clubman offers people who enjoyed the original MINI, yet wanted more space; the best of both worlds.
