In conjunction with the Ministry of Social Affairs, Mirdif City Centre hosted a special Hag El Leila event yesterday with the aim of celebrating and educating visitors on the importance of this traditional religious occasion.
A traditional set-up showcasing the special event was demonstrated in the mall’s Central Galleria to observe the annual Islamic celebration, where children gave complimentary gifts of chocolate and sweets to mall visitors and representatives from the Ministry of Social Affairs educated customers on the importance of this special day.
Hag El Leila is an annual occasion in the middle of Sha’ban, the eighth month in the Islamic Hegri Calendar. In ancient traditions, UAE people prepared for the arrival of the Holy month of Ramadan two weeks in advance in mid Shaban.
Yousif Al Ali, Vice President of Mirdif City Centre said: “It is important to us to respect and celebrate our ancient traditions and Hag El Leila is an especially important celebration as we look towards Ramadan. We are honored to partner with the Ministry of Social Affairs to spread the message of this important Islamic occasion and we are certain our visitors enjoyed a taste of Islamic tradition when they visited the mall.”
