ALBAWABA - The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that 12 people sustained injuries while rushing to shelters, and nine others experienced panic attacks after a missile launched from Yemen breached Israeli airspace early Friday morning.
Shortly after the missile incident, the Israeli military confirmed intercepting a drone launched from Yemen before it entered Israeli airspace.
The Israeli Home Front Command stated that air raid sirens sounded in over 150 cities and towns, including Greater Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and West Bank settlements, following the detection of the missile.
The military added that missile debris fell in the Modi'in area near Jerusalem, prompting an investigation into the incident's specifics.
In a speech on Thursday, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, leader of the Houthi movement in Yemen, announced that his group had launched a series of attacks against Israeli and American targets in solidarity with Gaza. He revealed that the operations involved 22 missiles and drones and targeted areas such as Jaffa, Ben Gurion Airport, Nevatim Airbase, and a power station near Jerusalem.
Nasruddin Amer, Deputy Head of the Houthi Media Authority, warned Israel that its advanced American defense systems cannot protect against Yemeni hypersonic missiles. In a post on the "X" platform, he stated that Israel must "end its aggression on Gaza," stressing that any other approach would be futile.
Since November 2023, the Houthi group has intensified attacks on Israeli-linked vessels in the Red Sea using drones and missiles, citing their support for Gaza amidst what they describe as "genocide."
