Mofaz: The Pressure that Israeli Forces Put on Palestinians Began to Bear Fruit

Israeli Chief of Staff Shaul Mofaz said on Sunday that the pressure that Israeli forces have been putting on the Palestinians has begun to bear fruit, reported The Jerusalem Post.

It has not yet achieved “the desired result,” which is an order “to cease-fire,” the paper quoted Mofaz as saying.

“The pressure,” the daily went on quoting Chief of Staff, must continue until such a time as the Palestinians “request a cease-fire.”

“The combination” of Israeli and “international pressure” has led the Palestinians to realize that they can only achieve “a marginal effect” from continuing “the violence,” he concluded.

The violence, which has claimed the lives of more than 235 Palestinians and injured more than 8000 as counted by Albawaba.com, was repeatedly condemned by the international community.

UN human rights chief Mary Robinson said last week that she would back the Palestinian demand for international protection – Albawaba.com
