ALBAWABA - UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham in a first appearance since social media rumours regarding his health, Al Jazeera reported.
A clip shared by the Emirati Presidential Court on Wednesday showed Mohamed bin Zayed with Graham as they held talks in the capital, Abu Dhabi. In the past few days, rumors filled social media, claiming that MBZ was in a critical condition. However, the UAE posted the video to refute allegations.
In addition to the Presidential court's video, WAM, the official Emirati news agency in the UAE, also shared images of the meeting between the president and the Republican Senator.
Nonetheless, Graham also took to his official X account to deny allegations regarding MBZ's health, by saying, "To those who are perpetuating false narratives against the United Arab Emirates and President Sheikh [Mohamed bin Zayed] personally, you are full of it."
He added, "Not only is he alive, but he is also well and as sharp as I've ever seen him."
Graham continued, "Our meeting today was very enjoyable and informative. We discussed the historic moment that is facing the region. I told him how much I appreciated his courage and vision to create an Islamic country that can be integrated into the world in a win-win fashion, both for the people of the UAE and for those who visit and do business with the country."
Furthermore, Mohammed Bin Zayed also posted on X, congratulating people on the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan. He wrote, "I extend my sincere best wishes to the people of the UAE and across the world. Ramadan is a time for reflection and generosity, and an opportunity to strengthen bonds within families and communities."
It is worth noting that rumors regarding the UAE leader began when Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced in a statement the postponement of his coming visit to the UAE planned for Monday, citing a "health problem" affecting President Mohamed bin Zayed.
However, the post by Erdogan's office was deleted from X without a clarification.
