According to the United Nations, at least 142 civilians have been killed in Yemen in the past ten days, sending the total for civilian deaths over 1,600 since the conflict escalated in March, AP reported
Clashes and airstrikes have continued in the war-torn country in violation of a week-long UN-brokered humanitarian peace agreement to allow aid agencies to access the 21 million Yemenis in need.
At least 142 civilians were killed between July 3 and Monday and another 224 were injured, including a total of 76 deaths and 38 injuries in airstrikes on markets July 6, a spokesman for the UN human rights office told AP.
UN spokesman Rupert Colville said Tuesday that the latest numbers bring the total killed since March 26 to 1,670, while 3,829 civilians have been injured, AP reported.
