Some 2,841,000 head of livestock were vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease in the Iranian province of Khorassan last month, reported the official IRNA news agency on Saturday.
"The vaccinated livestock included 465,000 head of cattle and 371,000 head of cows," Mohammad-Ali Ghazanfari, a senior official at the health ministry IRNA.
Last month, Iran discovered foot-and-mouth disease in sheep in three centers near the town of Shahroud, some 250 kilometers east of the capital Tehran.
The disease was discovered in several Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, UAE and the Palestinian territories.
