Moroccan athlete Hasna Benhassi participates in the world athletics championship for the second time after the world athletics championship of 1997, in which she reached the semi-finals. Le Matin reports that Benhassi will compete in the 800 m category in the Helsinki World Athletics Championship on Tuesday August 8.

Hasna Benhassi was the second female Moroccan athlete, after Nezha Bidouane, to win a World Championship title, and the first ever to become World Indoor Champion when she won the 1500 m in Lisbon in 2001. Another important sports event in Benhassi's career was 2004 Olympic Games in which she finished second in women's 800 meters and received the silver medal with her performance of 1'56"43.
