Moroccan King Mohammed VI has granted full or partial pardons to 999 inmates to mark Eid al-Fitr, the feast held at the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the justice ministry said on Tuesday.
Of those pardoned, 403 will have their jail sentences expunged while six others sentenced to life in prison will be given fixed terms.
The Moroccan king regularly pardons inmates who have committed lesser crimes on national or religious holidays.
