Moroccan Prime Minister Abdel-Rahman El Youssefi arrived in Beirut Friday for an official visit expected to culminate in a series of cooperation agreements, reported the Daily Star.

He was greeted at Beirut International Airport by Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri, who accompanied him to a first round of talks at the Grand Serail.

Moroccan Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Minister Mohammed bin Issa and his Lebanese counterpart, Mahmoud Hammoud, attended the meeting, said the Beirut-based paper.

Hariri and Youssefi co-chaired a meeting of the joint Lebanese-Moroccan Higher Committee on Saturday.

The meetings will be concluded Sunday with a number of agreements expected to be signed.

Speaking at a joint news conference, Hammoud was quoted as saying that the views of both sides were identical with regard to the Middle East peace process, the terrorist attacks in the US and the need to adopt a united Arab stand in the face of developments.

Bin Issa said Morocco had always been committed to the Middle East peace process and was ready to cooperate with all sides to achieve a comprehensive, just and genuine peace - Albawaba.com
