Morocco is on the list of 12 developing countries that receive the most Japanese assistance, said Japan's Ambassador to Morocco Hiro Sato on Tuesday.

The diplomat, who attended a Tangiers meeting with local authorities, said his country was ready to further develop bilateral cooperation, recalling that in 1999 Africa received 10 percent of Japan's $15 million in assistance to least developed countries, according to the official Maghrebe Arab Presse (MAP).

The diplomat proposed dispatching volunteers to help in local projects in northern Morocco.

He said that bilateral cooperation, which dates back to 1967, had several aspects: financial cooperation in the form of non-reimbursable aid, technical assistance and training – Albawaba.com
