ALBAWABA - In a compassionate move, the Moroccan government has unveiled its plan to provide a lifeline to families affected by the recent earthquake.

Each affected family is set to receive a monthly stipend of $250 for a year, starting this month, according to Fevzi Lakca, the Deputy Minister of Budget.

Lakca further revealed that homeowners who saw their houses crumble in the earthquake will receive substantial support, with sums reaching up to $14,000 from the government's budget. The earthquake's devastating impact has left 2.8 million people grappling with its consequences, a staggering two-thirds of the population in the affected regions.

The budget allocation for earthquake victims amounts to a significant 8 billion dirhams, equivalent to around $800,000,000 emphasizing the government's commitment to aiding those in need during this challenging period.

The earthquake, which struck on September 8th, registered a magnitude of 7 and had its epicenter in the El-Huz region near Marrakech. Tragically, it claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 individuals and left an additional 6,125 injured, leaving behind a trail of devastation that Morocco is working diligently to address.
