ALBAWABA- In a sharp escalation of tensions between Russia and the UK, Moscow has banned several high-ranking British officials and journalists from entering the country.

Those targeted include the British Deputy Prime Minister, Home Secretary, Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Foreign Secretary’s adviser, and the Deputy Defense Secretary, as well as journalists from The Times and Daily Mail.

The Russian Foreign Ministry announced the measures following a meeting with the British ambassador in Moscow, during which they conveyed that activities by British intelligence officers on Russian soil would not be tolerated.

Additionally, Russia tightened procedures for British diplomats, citing a recent incident of false information being provided by a diplomat.

Moscow warned of reciprocal measures should London further escalate its stance, emphasizing that these bans and sanctions are responses to what it views as anti-Russian rhetoric and actions.

The diplomatic friction marks a significant deepening of the rift between the two nations amidst an already strained relationship.
