FIA Vice President Mohammed Ben Sulayem recently concluded a two-day visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where he called on HRH Prince Sultan bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, President General of Youth Welfare, Head of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee (SAOC) and President of the Saudi Youth and Sports Body to discuss the development of motor sport in the region.

Sulayem visited the Kingdom from April 7-8 where he witnessed the final of the Saudi Racing Festival at the Zain Reem International Circuit last Thursday (April 8). Also present at the final races of the Zain Reem calendar were HRH Prince Sultan bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz and Saudi Arabian Motor Federation (SAMF) Chairman Mishaal Al-Sudairy, among other dignitaries.

Apart from witnessing an exciting final where Saudi Arabia’s Prince Mohamed bin Faisal bin Abdullah and Faisal bin Laden triumphed in their respective Zain Lotus Cup and Saudi Radical Championship races, Sulayem held a lengthy meeting with HRH Prince Sultan bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, Prince Bandar Al Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Honorary President of the Zain Reem International Circuit, and Prince Sultan bin Bandar Al Faisal.

Sulayem discussed various matters with HRH Prince Sultan including the further development of motor sport, mobility, and road safety in the region.

The FIA Vice President, who has been tasked with the overall development of the sport and to look into mobility-related issues in the Middle East region, said he had a “very positive and successful” meeting HRH Prince Sultan and other senior officials connected with the sport.

“Saudi Arabia is unarguably one of the most important countries in the region where motor sport is concerned,” Sulayem noted, adding that it was but natural to involve the Kingdom more closely in the development of the sport in the region.

Sulayem presented HRH Prince Sultan, Prince Bandar Al Faisal bin Abdulaziz and Prince Sultan bin Bandar Al Faisal with mementos as a token of his appreciation to his hosts.
