Motorola Continues Color Leadership, Extends PEBL Handset Offering

Continuing to deliver vibrant choices to consumers in the Middle East, Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT), a global leader in wireless communications, is extending its range of mobile devices this season through the launch of the PEBL form factor in four new shades.

Now available in green, orange, blue, and pink, the PEBL handsets bring a burst of energy and individuality to the Middle East’s mobile users.  A matching Motorola H500 Bluetooth headset has also been created for each hue of the new mobile.

“ What we’ve found in the Middle East and North Africa is that consumers in this region don’t want an ‘anonymous’ mobile accessory.  They want something more individual that expresses their moods and personal tastes, which is why we’re differentiating our mobile devices such as the PEBL through vibrant color offerings,” said Patrick Mulligan, General Manager, Motorola Mobile Devices Business, Middle East, North Africa, Pakistan and Turkey.

Motorola’s global design team spent months working with color analysts and forecasting trends to select the exact shades for the new range of color PEBLs.  Ideally timed for the summer months, the handsets are playful and jewel-like accessories as well as feature-packed communications devices.

“Motorola has created the color PEBL range to celebrate the individuality of our customers.  The new handsets have the same purity of line as the original black model, but have a new electric and expressive element that fits with the season and distinctive tastes,” Mulligan added.

To celebrate the new range of PEBL handsets, Motorola commissioned ‘king of color’ David LaChapelle, one of the world’s most edgy and iconic photographers and directors, to shoot a striking montage of photographs.  Inspired by the jewel-like colors, LaChapelle created a series of glamorous images portraying the colored PEBLs as pieces of art being burgled from a museum.

The new bright and bold PEBL phones boast hi-tech capabilities and a unique design that features an effortless one-handed opening hinge mechanism.  With video capture and playback, users can document the world around them and share experiences via MMS .  These mobiles come equipped with Bluetooth® wireless technology and independent speech recognition for true hands-free calling, and their quad band antenna enables global roaming.

Showcasing the driving importance of color inspiration in the mobile space, Motorola earlier this month unveiled the gold MOTORAZR V3i Dolce & Gabbana.  The Motorola RAZR V3i and 3G-enabled RAZR V3x models are available throughout the Middle East in a range of color choices.
