Mubarak Meets Italian Foreign Minister

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak met in Cairo on Thursday with Italian Foreign Minister Renato Ruggiero, who is on an official visit to Egypt, reported the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA). 

The two leaders reviewed issues pertaining to bilateral relations as well as developments in the international arena. 

The meeting was attended by Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher. 

Ruggiero is to head to Lebanon, Syria, Iran and Turkey on an October 21-23 tour aimed at nudging along the Middle East peace process, according to a statement by his ministry Tuesday. 

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said earlier this month that his country intended to take the lead in efforts to build peace in the Middle East by contributing to a "Marshall Plan" of massive public investment in the region – Albawaba.com
