Munich Airport has been named the winner of the "Best Airport in Europe" award for the third year in a row in an international survey of close to eight million passengers worldwide. Passengers also ranked Munich #4 in the worldwide rankings behind Asian hubs Hong Kong International Airport, Seoul Incheon and Singapore Changi airports in the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2007.
The annual Airport Survey conducted by Skytrax, an independent, London-based aviation market research firm, is the largest international customer survey of airport quality standards. Passengers were asked to assess more than 40 aspects of customer satisfaction for airport product and service standards at more than 170 airports around the world—ranging from ease of catching connecting flights to the cleanliness of restrooms and the efficiency of security checks. The final report featuring detailed information about how airports ranked in each specific category is scheduled to be
released soon.
"We consider it an incredible achievement that passengers have chosen Munich as the best airport in Europe for a third year in a row," notes Dr. Michael Kerkloh, CEO of the Munich Airport operating company, FMG, adding that "the 30,000 people working on the Munich Airport campus have reason to be very proud of this award since they´re the ones behind our success! Without the close and efficient cooperation between airport operator, airlines, authorities and the other companies at Munich Airport, we wouldn´t have won this award."
Kerkloh notes that despite winning the award for a third straight year, Munich Airport will continue striving to meet and exceed passenger expectations in the future: "I believe we´ve got an unbeatable combination here at Munich Airport—outstanding quality and customer service combined with authentic Bavarian charm and hospitality."
