DMA today hosted its fourth Knowledge Management Seminar to strengthen the culture and concept of Knowledge Management across the Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) and the municipalities,

H.E. Ahmad Shareef, Undersecretary of DMA attended the seminar and commented:  “This seminar, which is part of a series of knowledge management seminars, comes as an enhancement of DMA’s strategy to ensure that knowledge which is currently difficult to identify or access is made easily available to all employees. The project will also improve the transfer of knowledge and skills between consultants and municipal employees, and later on between the DMA and other government entities.”

Two specialists from DMA, Mr. Ahmed Al Mazrooei, Acting Division Manager GIS and Property, and Mr. Jehad Mohamed Al Moghairbi, Specialist- Business Process Improvement, examined standardizing the addressing system across the Municipalities of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the contracting and public private partnership manuals project developed collaboratively with the other municipalities in accordance with international standards.

The Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) is the first Government entity in Abu Dhabi to launch a Knowledge Management (KM) framework.  The KM project, named “Musharaka - Excellence through Knowledge” is an example where a new technological platform is combined with cultural and people-trend factors to enhance employee performance, productivity and ultimately boost customer service. Employees will be able to explore, learn and share world-class practices that are essential to their performance and also suit their own learning and personal advancement goals.  “Musharaka” is a result of collaboration between the DMA and the Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Western Region Municipalities.

“We are working hard towards achieving a pan-municipal knowledge management framework to significantly improve productivity, performance, and services.  This framework is coordinated with the General Secretariat of the Executive Council as part of the government’s vision to implement knowledge management across the Emirate,” concluded H.E. Ahmed Shareef.
