Palestinian police in Nablus on Sunday arrested a man suspected of murdering a young Palestinian from Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus, who went missing about ten months ago, the governor of Nablus said.

Akram Rajoub told Ma’an that the suspect was arrested thanks to the efforts of Nablus police detectives.

“The suspected killer is being interrogated, though he initially admitted to the killing of 25-year-old Yasser Salam who disappeared 10 months ago after he left to his work in the farmers market of the Nablus municipality,” Rajoub said.

Rajoub said the victim’s body has yet to be recovered.

Rajoub highlighted that a few days ago, the Nablus police arrested the killer of an elderly woman, Mariam al-Nadi, who was murdered near Balata camp last week.

Security sources said initial investigations suggested that the woman had been “violently attacked and killed.”

The suspect allegedly admitted that he had killed the woman after he stole 50 Shekels ($13) from her.
