Hizbullah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah on Monday said the movement provides Lebanon with stability and security against a "permanent threat called Israel." Presenting his movement's new political manifesto, Nasrallah said that Israel has always been and always will be a threat to Lebanon, adding that the resistance movement plays a 'key role' in repelling such threats.

The Hizbullah leader called for a defense strategy based on the power of the resistance and the army that would preserve the security of Lebanon. Among Hizbullah's main priorities is to "continue the mission of liberating the territories which still are in Israeli occupation," Nasrallah said. "Hizbullah  does not underestimate the current challenges and threats or the severity of the confrontation path. However, Hizbullah has now clearer choices and more trust in its people," he added.

The Shiite leader also warned Lebanon's political parties against political sectarianism and division.

Nasrallah accused Washington of being the world's leading exporter of terrorism. "There is no question that American terrorism is the origin of all terrorism around the world," said Nasrallah. He slammed former US president George W. Bush of having turned the United States into a threat for the rest of the world.

"If a survey were to be held today, the United States would be the most hated nation in the world," said Nasrallah. "Standing up to the US threat must be a worldwide effort," he added. "This is a delicate and difficult task ... and one that will involve generations to come."
