National Tiles & Block Paves a Well-Tiled Path to Productivity with Focus RT
The new ERP system, Focus RT, will help the company improve its manufacturing processes, streamline its business processes and enhance operational efficiency
National Tiles & Block Co. Ltd., one of the largest manufacturers of tiles, concrete pacing blocks, and concrete masonry building blocks, today announced that it has phased out its older IT systems and is deploying Focus RT, the real-time enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution from Focus Softnet. According to the company, the deployment of Focus RT will lead to reduced production planning times, quicker response to market changes, and increased levels of efficiency.
The company has been producing such tiles and concrete blocks since 1977, at its facility located on the outskirts of Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE. “After completing successful three decades, today National Tiles & Block has become an integral part of the economic growth in UAE. It is also a pioneer and leader in the field of concrete products and having more than 450 dedicated employees,” explains Mr. Abdullah, Director, National Tiles & Block.
In the face of a high rate of growth, several variations in the production line, the need for shorter production cycles, and the need for aggressive pricing strategies, the company began to debate the need for an ERP package. The company, however, did not look for a short-term solution by cutting down fixed cost components such as labour.
"We clearly wanted a single software package that could take care of all areas of our business processes such as production, accounts, materials, sales and distribution, and pricing. The solution should have the ability to scale up as required, and yet stay focused on helping the organisation grow,” adds Mr. Abdullah. “Moving up the value chain is something that can happen independent of IT in an organisation. But IT has to enable it very strongly. The backend should be able to support the value-addition process and consequent business changes.”
National Tiles & Block considered using an ERP solution based on the strength of its manufacturing solution, the vendor's support infrastructure and future scalability of the solution.
