Navayuga Engineering Company nearing completion of second project in City of Lights
• On-schedule completion highlights NEC’s project delivery capabilities
• Opens Dubai office, plans to expand to Oman by mid-2009
Navayuga Engineering Company (NEC), one of India’s leading infrastructure development companies with a significant presence in the Gulf region, is nearing completion of its second project in the UAE. The piling and infrastructure-related work for City of Lights in Abu Dhabi is almost 90 per cent complete.
This follows the successful completion of work for NEC’s first project in Plot 3 C-13 in the City of Lights, Abu Dhabi. The company is currently finalizing other significant contracts in the country in line with its targeted turnover of AED800 million by the end of 2009. NEC also opened its office in Dubai in December 2008 as per schedule and expects to expand to Oman by mid-2009.
Mr Antony A. David, General Manager of Navayuga Engineering Company Ltd (Abu Dhabi), said: “The on-schedule progress of work in City of Lights is a reiteration of our capabilities in undertaking advanced piling and infrastructure work. We have been able to achieve high levels of efficiency by deploying workers optimally and complementing it with advanced machinery.”
He added: “NEC is finalizing new contracts for infrastructure work with other prospective developers and is focused on leveraging the strong construction sector growth in the region. NEC have already undertaken several project optimization measures to ensure that our contracts are competitive and meet the needs of our clients, even during the current market scenario.”
With its UAE headquarters in Abu Dhabi, NEC has a team of about 500 professionals and skilled workers working on its projects in the UAE. NEC has mobilized a large fleet of equipment to position itself among the top ten piling companies in the country.
“Despite the global financial crisis, the vision of governments in the Gulf to invest in infrastructure projects for long-term value offers a great growth opportunity for infrastructure providers,” said Mr David.
NEC has a sterling track-record in India, where it is associated with several landmark projects including ports, flyovers, elevated highways and other mammoth construction projects. The company established its first overseas piling business branch in Qatar in 2006, and is currently involved in major projects in Qatar – outside Doha.
