NBK Hosts the first symposium of Turkish companies in Kuwait

National Bank of Kuwait (NBK), the leading bank in Kuwait and the highest rated in the Middle East, today hosted the first-of-its-kind meeting with a high level Turkish business delegation. The meeting was attended by senior NBK officials headed by GCEO Ibrahim S. Dabdoub and Deputy CEO Shaikha K. Al Bahar, in addition to the Head of the visiting Turkish delegation and President-Investment Support & Promotion Agency (ISPAT) Alpaslan Korkomaz.
Speaking on the inauguration of the event, which was held at Sheraton Hotel-Kuwait,  Shaikha Al Bahar said that the initiative and decision for such a gathering was taken by both H.H the Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah and H.E the Turkish President Abdullah Gul during President Gul's visit to Kuwait in December, 2009. 
" NBK is greatly honored to be given the unique mandate and opportunity to host this symposium,the fact that highlight the historical role played by the bank in respect of promoting relationships and trade flows between Kuwait and other countries in the region" Al Bahar added
“The visit of President Gul to Kuwait  in December, 2009, which was the first by a Turkish President in the last 12 years, was a clear testament of the growing relationship between Turkey and Kuwait as well as the Turkish growing strategic political and economic role  in the region" Al Bahar said.
The two-day meeting encompasses a series of presentations by various government organizations and ministries targeted towards introducing the visiting Turkish delegation to " Doing Business in Kuwait" and present to them the various opportunities that Kuwait offer to Turkish contractors, including multibillion projects scheduled within the five-year plan starting 2010.
National Bank of Kuwait has a long history of relationship with Turkey. The Bank's presence in Turkey today both through the Turkish Bank and NBK Capital is evidence NBK's close ties and interest in Turkey.
