The Algiers District committee for collecting Zakat for distribution has collected a sum of AD14 million, of which AD 7 million would be distributed to 1,406 poor and needy families during the holy month of Ramadan.
IINA quoted the district's Director of the Department of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Belqassim Bu-Kharwatah as saying each family is granted AD5,000, and more such handouts are on the way.
